Only the memory’s left,
Of the happiness we knew,
But the love that kindled memory’s torch.
Will feed it my whole life through.
Just when his days seemed brightest
Just when his hopes seemed best,
God called him from amongst us to His eternal rest,
Sadly missed, but God knows best.

John and I would always talk about the game - we finally got the chance to play with one another just recently. We talked about my truck and he advised me what to do. I am sorry that he would not be here to do it with me. After the advice he gave, now I can do it on my own. I will miss you. Keep on smiling. (Mr. Big Hands)

I was so shocked and saddened when I heard that John had passed. As many know and can testify that John was a GREAT LOVING man! I've never experienced him upset but always with a great big smile on his face that lightened up the room.
I've known John since he worked at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and he has never changed. He has always been a sweet pleasant caring person. I will remember all the fun and crazy times I've got to experience with him!
Even in this sad time, when I think of John...I can't help but to let a smile creep onto my face because this is how I will always remember him is with his fantastic smile that never seemed to leave his face.
So Evelyn hold your head up high. I know that it may be hard to do but that is where ALL of your strength and help will come from...up high where our LORD & SAVIOR is looking down on you as his child and wanting to help guide your footsteps during this time.
Absent from the body is to be present with the LORD!
My prayers are for you and the entire Mundell Family!
John shall live on through our greatest and fondest memories of him!

I'd first like to say to the family; I'm sorry for your loss. My thoughts and Prayers are with you. Please find comfort in knowing that both the 'Family' and 'John' are in God's loving care.
Where do I begin... John will truly be missed. I was in disbelief when I was told. And then, immediately begin to reflect over the 20 years of knowing this fine Gentlemen. I had the pleasure of meeting John at Community Mutual (now Anthem BCBS) 20 years ago on Night-Shift. It was a joy working with him. He always, always had a 'smile' on his face. He met no strangers, he embraced everyone. And, definitely loved Life, Family and his Friends.
He is undoubtly 'one of the Good Guys'. I learned from the numerous 'Life' discussions we had that he had a BIG heart and was a Life-Line to many that were close to him in SO many ways. This man's personality was awesome! God broke the mold when he created John. His spirit was infectious. And, that 'smile', it was contagious. Just looking at him would bring a smile to your face changing your mood entirely.
Yes, John certainly touched many lives in his short life time, including mine.
Missed but never Forgotten.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

John was such a good friend of mine. I loved John because how could ANYONE not love John? He cared about everyone and he was so upbeat and oozed friendliness genuine friendliness…there was nothing fake about him. I remember working with John on night shift at Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield he was one of the very first people I met 20 years ago. We had many of late night’s playing cards and hanging out in those days. He was my best friend and we remained good friends throughout the 20 years and I will always, ALWAYS treasure those memories because of the fun we had. We were 20 years old trying to make sense of everything in the world and thank the Lord we got to do it together. When my car broke down John was there, whenever anything happened he was there…because he was always there for his friends.
He came to my Bauni/Obama birthday party last year….he stayed only a couple of minutes but he wanted to give me a birthday card. Our birthdays were a week apart and we always made sure we touched base during that week. For 20 years!
I remember when John and his wife got married and we (the night shift crew) were there to cheer him on and to meet her because we knew he was happy and we wanted him to be happy because if anyone deserved to be happy it was him.
I have my memories of John and my love for him and now I get to think of Big John up in heaven decked out in an all white suit, dimples and all laughing, smiling and looking for us to join him one day…….To the family…I hope you can find comfort in your memories. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. We will miss you on earth John but you will make heaven a much better place.
Love, Bauni Motton

John would always greet me with a smile at New Covenant.... and tell me that Kim was doing good where she was ( since we went to school together)...Evelyn, Family, God has your back...., your front, your middle, your sides, all of you...take it one day at a time, 1 second at a time lean on him... we are praying for you and here for you if you need us...

To John's wife just know John was a good man and was a part of the Kirk Family and he will truly be missed. My Prayers are with you all that God will send the Comforter to help you get through this sad hour. God Bless you All.
