John W Murdock, age 95 (March 17th, 1922), of Rockville, Maryland, passed away in Columbus, Ohio on Veterans Day 2017 with family. John was born in a coal miners town, McKendree, West Virginia. On graduation, John received a Bachelor of Science degree from Marshall University, and Masters of Science in Nuclear Technology from Iowa State University. He married Helen Berisford born in Middlebourne, WV who met John at Huntington High School. They were married for 75 years celebrating their anniversary on August 13, 2017. Living children. John Murdock II, Carole; David Murdock, Cheryl; James Murdock, Darlene; Carol Murdock Klinger, Robert; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was very active in his children's lives at their school events, community advocate of Friends of the Library and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio, and served as lay leader in Rockville United Methodist Church in Rockville, Maryland. After serving in US Army as an Officer during WWII, John's career journey was mostly with Battelle Memorial Institute of Columbus, Ohio involving project assignments to harvest intelligences for US government missions in South Vietnam, South Korea (KIST), Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia (SRSI) and US Library of Congress (Translation of Russian T&S documents). John's entrepreneurial spirit launched International Science Data Center, Inc. in 1987 with project assignments - MITC Enterprise Incubator Director for AT&T funded Internet fiber-optic network for Maryland Public Schools across the state; launching FIRST Robotics Chesapeake Chapter at US Naval Academy for local and regional K-12 students; and homeland security matter expert on National 911 Call Center Database distribution; and academic career as Professor of Information Technology at Johns Hopkins University - SAIS and International Law Academy in Washington, DC.
