Panico, Jr., Joseph Angelo
1925 - 2021
Joseph Angelo Panico, Jr., age 95. The irreplaceable cornerstone of our family. Joe was a man of extreme brilliance, strength, and accomplishment. He loved his Wife and family fiercely and was always there for us with advice, humor, stories, philosophy, hope, and concern. He was a man of faith and member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Luckily for his family, we all knew him very well and he was involved with, knew and cared for each one of us. It was a privilege to be a part of his life. He will be loved and missed forever. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Angelo Panico and Argentina Supini Panico, and his sisters Alba Zelinda White and Gloria Vincenza Morris. Joe was the son of Italian Immigrants who taught him the value of hard work, perseverance, and education. Joe lived every day to its fullest and wanted us all to do the same. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mitzi Russell Panico, whom he adored since the day they met as teenagers in their home town of Wheeling, West Virginia. Together, they created a loving family to whom Joe was devoted. "La famiglia e tutto". He is also survived by his children, of whom he was very proud, Joseph A. Many, many friends, colleagues, former students, extended family and others whose life he touched as the trusted, wise, kind, compassionate and generous man he was. Joe was an Author, Consultant, Historian, and Educator who worked full-time in the Engineering, Research and statistical capacity for five major corporations and later as the owner-director of Maynard Research Counsel, Pittsburgh, Pa. I knew Joe and his entire family from my first weeks in Columbus and had the joy of talking with him on many occasions. He was a man of many interests and passions. He taught me so much about life. My memories include holiday dinners on my farm with most of his large family. My thoughts are with you Mitzi as you mark the incredible life of your husband of 70 years. My hope is that there is some comfort looking how much Joe packed into his lifetime. I will watch the virtual serve at St. Joan of Arc. Much love to all, Bill (Russell)
