i wrote a page and a half of memories of things we did together, from when we were toddlers together in the first big house you lived in with the tall steps we would sit at the top of with toys we would sneak down them to play with in the livingroom,to your ever loving happy smile,no matter what, even when i was a crying baby, you still smiled as a baby,we were the same age and most summers together growing up with cousin butch and my sister and brothers, trips together in the car,you and i usually got the front seat all the way to tennessee, cleaning bricks with the others, hide and seek, riding bikes as we got older, even the wonderful time bill and i met you and butch and your sweet cousin in vegas a few years ago and had such a wonderful time. i wanted to tell aunt libbie and cousin butch(thomas)

that familys are forever and that we will all be together again someday and i hope this will help to comfort them at the time and i started crying and pushed the wrong button and lost the whole message i had left before. but there are so many beautiful memories that we all will hold in our hearts and someday we will be together again. i love you all and my prayers are with all of you.

While we all know no one lives forever, Joe was a person whom you felt would always be at SMM. He had limitless energy and never seemed to need sleep. We spent many a night at Waffle House or TJ's, or any other all night restaurant just yaking about the events of the day, life, sports, the weather..he could talk! But he loved the kids, wanted to impact their lives in a positive way, wanted them to feel good about themselves and to know that someone cared about them. He leaves behind a legacy that will be surpassed by few. You will be missed. God Speed.

Joe's passing deeply saddens me. We shared many good times at Bishop Ready and the University of Kentucky. I will always remember his generous spirit and cheerful attitude. May God bless and keep him always.

I have known Joe since I was a 12 year old in the middle 1970's playing for St. Catharine in the St. Mary Magdalene Diocesan Baseball Tournament. I would get to catch up with him in the intervening years at Diocesan sporting events and with his officiating buddies at Plank's Cafe. What a great advocate for youth sports and for kids in general. You will be missed Joe! God bless you.

My family's prayers are with Joe and his family. I have plenty of great childhood baseball memories being coached by both Joe and Butch (Tom) at St. Mary Magdalene and with the Hilltop Buckeyes in the early 70s. Our successful seasons were not only evidenced by our team records during that time, but eventually based on how many of us continued to play and coach baseball the rest of our lives. We have Joe to thank for that....

It breaks my heart that we have lost you, but I know that you will continue on your journey to make others laugh and find happiness. I feel that you are at peace, with yourself, and others, and when I think of you, I can see your whole face light up with that great big smile of yours. Your Mom and brother can always use another guardian angel.
I love you still and always, your Aunt Nell

To Betty, and Tom

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I know Joe and I went to high school together, and we lost touch for many years, but we met again about 10 years ago, and we started a friendship that I will miss very much. Joe called me on Saturday night and we talked, laugh, and talked about getting together soon. He was there when I had a cancer scare last year, and I told him I would be there for him. I will miss our afternoon meeting, and talks. He will be missed by me for a very long time, but I will hold the time we did spend together in my heart always, and forever.

I consider myself so lucky to have had a friend like Joe for the past 35 years. We had some great times together, made some great memories. Even when he struggled with his health he took the time to be sure that he checked on me in my time of need. It is difficult to lose such a wonderful and devoted friend, and I look forward to seeing him again in the next life. May the good Lord take care of Joe and his family.
