I just heard the news from a friend of ours that we used to work with in the high bay at the CDC. Kevin was my best friend and confidant during my years with JCP. I still tell the story of him at the Granville Inn during a JCP outing with a laugh (just as he had) even though it was really no laughing matter, his demeanor and patience allowed him to accept the circumstances and eventuall persevere. I haven't talked to him in a few years but strangely enough was thinking about him last week...gods speed my friend, you will be missed.

He made the job a better job, and the day a better day, and the world a better place, with his laughter, understanding, and thoughfulness. Kevin, will be missed by all who knew and met him. My thoughts are with you, his family, as you say goodbye to one you love.

My name is Catherine Fox and I am an Assistant Store Manager in Raleigh NC and have been speaking with Kevin on the phone since 2005. I never did get to meet Kevin personally but some how he touched my life with his great personality and I will always remember him with fond thoughts. I know that the JCPenney world will miss him and so will I. His family will be in my thought and prayers.

Kevin got me into plenty of (good natured) trouble in junior high, and my memories of that time are richer because of him. I can't even imagine Kevin without a smile on his face, and I can't remember him without a smile of my own. I'm not surprised that he continued to touch lives for the rest of his life. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and all his many friends.

As soon as Kevin entered the doors at the Statesville JCP facility he started making friends. All this week the associates are commenting on things like "Kevin was a good man. He made us feel important." Another said, "How will I answer the phone when Kevin will not be here to disguise his voice and make a joke." Someone else stated "Kevin was so kind and thoughtful to me." I heard that one alot.
Most of us know where he got his wit "His Dad". I don't know any parents that were better to their son.
May God bless you in this time and in the days to follow. We all will be praying for you because we know how much Kevin loved all of you.

March 13, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It's kind of hard to put into words what Kevin meant to me.Kevin was my Manager for about 4 years in the SSC at JCPenney in Statesville.During those 4 years not only was Kevin my Manager he also managed to become a dear friend of mine and I feel greatful for that.Kevin treated me with the up most respect and kindness. When my mother suffered a stroke in 2004 I will never forget how thoughtful and kind he was during this difficult time and for that I will be forever greatful.Kevin,it's kind of hard to believe that I'm never gonna hear your chuckle laugh or Hear the "Yo Adrian" in your Rocky impersonation when you would speak to me,but I know your at peace.May God Bless you and your family.

Kevin was a friend to all here at the Statesville Center. He was enthusiastic about life and wanted everyone to enjoy it as much as he did. A recent heart-felt memory I have of Kevin is: A little over a month ago he calls me to the cafeteria where, with a friend's help, he has prepared his mother's barbeque chicken recipe to take to my sister and her husband (my nephew had passed). Kevin wanted me to taste the chicken--and it was delicious! This was such a sweet gesture and I wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciated it and how much Kevin will be missed.
