DOWLER Lorraine Aurand Dowler, 85, of Marysville, died early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2008, at The Gables at Green Pastures. Always pleasant, Lorraine took strife in stride, never complaining or asking others for help. She managed the people, the moments and the tragedies of life. Growing up during the Depression era was not easy, however her family made the best of it in Oak Park, Illinois where Lorraine excelled in dancing and swimming. With a family move to Cincinnati where her father purchased Aurand Manufacturing, she graduated from Hughes High School and later met and married Frank W. "Bud" Reilley while he was attending the Ohio Military School. They later moved to Marysville where her life's work centered on home and family. She very much enjoyed meeting monthly with friends in the "Card club" and playing bridge, swimming, constantly trying for the "hole in one" at golf while a member of Marysville's first golf course and lunching with close friends in Columbus at the Fashion, the Union, Madisons and Lazarus. After Bud's death, Lorraine moved to Danville, California to be near her mother and sisters. There she married her second husband, Jack Tawney Dowler and after the passing of her family there, she moved back to Ohio to spend her last years in Dublin at Muirfield. She was born April 4, 1923, in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Frank W. and Ethel Mae Williams Aurand and was predeceased by a brother Frank w. Aurand, sisters Marian E. Crayne and Betty Lou Dowler and husband Frank W. "Bud" Reilley, mother and father-in-law Marguerite and Frank Reilley, second husband Jack Tawney Dowler and his parents Guy and Orpha Dowler. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Roger Nicol of Marysville; a son, David W. Reilley of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Tami (Phil) Bowman and Amy Nicol; special great-grandson, Jack Bowman. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Saturday, at UNDERWOOD FUNERAL HOME, Marysville, where Rev. John Fair of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will conduct a prayer service to conclude the visitation. Burial will be later at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial Hospital of Union County Development Fund to support those pursuing careers in nursing.
