Marty was my Operations Officer at the 562 TFTS at George AFB. He was always there and working hard and throughout his stay at George and later in his career with industry, we shared multiple periods of fun together. There are stories that would not embarrass Marty but they would take too long to tell here. Needless to say he was a great guy and I appreciated his friendship. He will be missed.

I knew Marty when he lived in Diamond Bar, and knew him as a classy, sweet gentleman. I enjoyed good times with him and although we haven't talked for almost a year, I will miss him.

I was honored to have Marty as a guest at my place in Panama. What a great guy, a real American hero. Its a real loss for us on Earth, a big gain for those upstairs. Godspeed.

Marty passed the day before Steve's birthday--Marty had contacted me after Steve's passing--it was so good to hear his voice and he was very supportive. My heart is breaking for your family--He will always be in my heart...Thank you for your service Marty!

It is hard to believe that my friend and fellow officer/weasel is gone to a better life. I have worked and flown with Marty and knew him for a long time. The world is not as wide or well off with Marty gone. Truly one of the best of the best.

I first met Lt Col Noel in Winnipeg, Canada while he was an exchange officer. Later, we were in the 562nd together at George AFB, CA. He always stood up for the things he believed in and a smile was always on his face. I will miss Colonel Noel.

Honored to have served with Marty. Most dependable officer I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. God speed Marty; now you fly where the flak is made of cotton candy, limitless fuel, and no regulations. You have slipped the surly bonds of earth ....reached out and touched the face of God. Hand Salute.

Marty and I spent hundreds of post (USAF) retirement hours on our daily commute from the high desert to 'down below' working for Lockheed on their year-long AC-130 proposal. You get to learn a hell of a lot about the other guy that way.
Without belaboring the point I can unconditionally say that Marty was a true gem and great friend--one of a kind. Twas a true treat to have worked and flown with him.
God has gotten a great Co-Pilot.

Sorry to see Marty fly west. RIP to a great American. I did not know we were both born in Portsmouth, Ohio. I think we met during one of the Wild Weasel reunions as I'm a retired F4G EWO (backseater).

We have such fond memories of being with Marty over the years. My husband JP worked with him on several occasions (SM&A) and we would often spend evenings together. Great guy.. .

It was indeed a pleasure to have known Marty, even for just a few years in retirement, here in Reno. To his Air Force, his Ohio State University, his High School Alum friends and family, Marty maintained the highest standards of ethical engagement and behavior, an example to all who knew or saw him. It was fascinating to realize that, of all the 291 combat missions he survived, the most amazing is his tour as a "Wild Weasel". What a great "Stick"!
