Mary was a kind and fun neighbor and friend to our entire family! Always a smile and a fun chat as we went about life across the street with our children and now grandchildren. We brought her and Ken cake from Piece of Cake, and they brought us delicious chocolates. Mary met me at the mailbox one day and we decided on the spur of the moment to go to the parade of homes. One of many fun times over the years. Carl says we met her when she was 66; she will be missed but know her and Ken's future is with our Lord Jesus.

We have many special memories of Mary and Ken and the entire Dougan family, and the church at Fishinger and Kenny. We were pleased that we saw Mary and Riley in a restaurant some time back in Columbus. We are sorry for your loss

I knew Mary And Ken for about 10 years. They were the two sweetest people I have ever met. Mary was very compassionate and just a joy to be around. She will truly be missed.

The Columbus, OH obits yesterday brought a flood of memories from my childhood. Mary (Dougan) Ingold was my elementary school teacher at Weinland Park School in the early 1960s. She was one of those teachers you never forget. She taught in our blue collar neighborhood; a mix of white kids & black kids from working class families. She stood out as smart, firm, gentle and inspiring; the qualities of a great teacher; she was tall and classy. I was lucky enough to have her as my teacher in both the 4th grade and the 5th grade. It was a little confusing; in the fall of 1963, she was "Miss Dougan." In the fall of 1964, she became "Mrs. Ingold." I remember that she took a young "Richard" under her wing and showed me the world and its possibilities. She also comforted us all during a tragic week in the fall of 1963. On November 22, we were dismissed from class early; the President had been killed. I remember walking down the stairs and looking back at Miss Dougan; she was crying. I did not really understand the day or that weekend. When we all came back to school the next week, she was there to comfort us, guide us and inspire us. Goodbye, my wonderful teacher; thank you.

Riley and all: Mom and Mary were more than cousins: they acted so much like sisters! They truly loved each other! It was to my benefit and delight to have arranged a lunch meeting with Riley and Mary with Mom and me when I was preaching in Ohio. That become one of Mom's greatest memories! Selfishly, I've now lost a very valuable "history book" concerning Pennsville. While Riley could help, it was Mary who seemingly delighted in talking about the "good ol' days" of fun and frolic and helping with names as I endeavored to record the history of those times. Indeed, "missing her" puts it mildly. She was loved and cherished, even as you all. We are now the "next generation" of the VanFossen line. Oh, that we cherish that honor as Mary did!
