Melvin R. Bynum was born November 8, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio and passed away December 30, 2017 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Member of Unity Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, son Melvin "Butch" Bynum, and grandson Rodney J. Bynum. Survived by wife Lisa; and sons, James "Beanie" Bynum and Rodney "Bo" Bynum. Celebration of Life 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Unity Baptist Church, 1358 Mt. Vernon Ave. Family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, January 9th from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. My condolences to the family of Mr Bynum. I remember Mel as a kind, gentle, quiet, spirit. I had the pleasure of bowling with him many years past. He will be forever known as a true "bowling legend" in the Columbus community. May he rest in peace.

Lisa, may God walk with you as always, especially in your time of loss, Melvin will be dearly missed. I'll always remember the fun and good times we had together on Ms. Bea's trips to W.Virginia and the laughter we shared. God Bless you and the Bynum Family.
