Michael Mayo Obituary

MAYO Michael C. Mayo, age 43, was called home to rest October 14, 2005 after a long battle with diabetes. Born July 12, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio. Graduate of Northland High School and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Mike, as he was affectionately called, loved music, comedy movies, and sports, especially bowling. He bowled in several leagues and was recently a member of TNBA League at Eastland Lanes. Preceded in death by his mother Erma Mayo, grandmother Sally Shackleford, grandfather Henry Jemison, and uncles Harlin Goins and James Hay. Survived by his father, Chester Mayo; sister, Judith Taite; grandmother, Emma Jemison; aunts, Thelma Givens, Delores Goins, Barbara Kelsey, Margaret Hay, all of Columbus, and Patty Mayo, Los Angeles, CA; uncle, Richard Kelsey; niece, Kemba Days-Yancey; nephew, Korey Days; grand nephews, Kameron and Kyle Yancey; several cousins; special friends, Ms. Nadie Steward and Mrs. Helen Carroll; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service 12 noon, Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at The Shiloh Baptist Church, 720 Mt Vernon Avenue, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service. Pastor Otha Gilyard, officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E Long Street. Family may be contacted at 252-3357. Friends who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mike, are asked to consider the Diabetes Association of Central Ohio, 1100 Dennison Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201.
