Mildred Longo Obituary

LONGO (LEES) Mildred "Millie" E. Longo (Lees), age 68, passed away peacefully with her family by her side February 21, 2012 after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Columbus, OH on April 16, 1943. After raising two children, Millie began her career as a food representative for Pfeister Co. and then spent several years as a realtor for King Thompson Coldwell Banker. After retiring, she spent several winters in her home in Bonita Springs, Florida and summers in Dublin, OH. Millie loved the outdoors while gardening, walking the beaches, hiking, and biking. She always loved a new adventure and was fortunate enough to travel to many different destinations. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Millie was a member of Twig 180 (benefitting Children's Hospital) as well as a member of the Dublin Garden Club. Her greatest passion was always supporting and loving all 11 of her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Dwight and Esther Lees. Millie is survived by her loving devoted husband, Denny "Dan" Longo; her children, Ellen Moretti, Rick (Megan) Evans, step-daughter Marianne (Martin) Murphy; grandchildren, Mason, Myles, Makayla Moretti, Erin and Grace Evans, Brittany (Mike) Stockdale, Zack and Madison Kerscher, Matthew, Elizabeth and Katelyn Murphy; sister, Martha (Wayne) Thoms; sister-in-law, Judy (Gary) Rizor; nieces, Laura (Rob) Kochis, Karen (Ashley) Hancock; great-nephews, Ryan and Jared Kochis; and great-niece, Hailey Kochis. Our family would like to thank Dr. Craig Hofmeister, the myeloma team, nurses, pca's and staff for all their years of kind and compassionate care at the OSU James Cancer Hospital. The family will receive friends on SUNDAY, February 26, 2012 from 2-6 p.m. at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. MONDAY, February 27, 2012 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Road, Columbus, OH 43220. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH. Dear Dan & Family,
Millie was the most special friend and the best of us! I can hear her laugh and voice and this makes me happy to know I can hold her spirit close to my heart! Elaine and Rick, I know you through my sister, Ann, and know Millie was so proud of you. Your Mother's spirit will remain close especially now. Dan, thank you for taking such good care of our sweet Millie all these years as we will always be thankful for your kindness.

I first knew Millie as Dan's wife, then as a realtor at King Thompson.
Millie has always been one the kindest, sweetest people anyone could ever want to know. Millie had a quiet grace about her like no one I have ever known. For the last 2 years we have been neighbors in the villas at Balllantrae in Dublin. Millie & Dan would come to as many of the monthly parties as was possible, she was always an inspiration to everyone. The group will not be the same without her. May she rest in peace now.

Millie was such a sweet, kind person who loved her family. I enjoyed working with her at King Thompson where we became good friends who shared lots of stories and laughs. I admired her strength and bravery as she battled cancer. I will remember her always.
