Norma Myers Obituary

Myers, Norma
1950 - 2018
Norma L. Myers, of New Albany and formerly of Canton, went to be home with the Lord on April 2, 2018 at OSU Wexner Medical Center with the loving support of her family. Born in Dayton on March 21, 1950, she was preceded in death by parents William R. and Opal Pearl (Birks) Mouer. Until third grade she lived in Amherst, where her father pastored a church, and then Mt. Vernon where she graduated high school in 1968 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education at Malone University in Canton, where she met C. Daniel Myers. The two were married August 14, 1971 and stayed in Canton where she spent the majority of her career as an administrator at Young World Developmental Learning Center for the preschool, which afforded her the opportunity to become involved in the lives of countless people. Canton First Church of the Nazarene allowed Norma a place to worship, sing, and develop relationships through women's ministries and small groups. Upon moving to New Albany 10 years ago, Norma and Dan were members of Vineyard Columbus and continued involvement in small groups. It has been said that Norma knew how to work a crowd. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 46 years, Dan; and her daughter and son-in-law, Allyson and Brian Keaton; her beloved grandson, Matthew; brother, William (Harriet) Mouer; sister-in-law, Beverly (Earl) Weaver; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Amherst Family Fellowship, 780 Cooper Foster Park Rd., on the corner of Terra Lane and Foster Park Rd., Amherst, 44001, at 1PM, with visitation prior from 11:30-12:30. Following the service there will be a coffee reception for the guests to share memories with the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or Urban Promise at www.urbanpromise.com. To leave online condolences visit www.schoedinger.com.

Norma was a bright light everywhere she went. It was my privilege to work for her at Young World. Her enthusiasm was contagious and her laughter brought joy and healing. She cared so deeply for the all of the children, their families and her staff. My loving thoughts and prayers go out to her entire family!

Im thankful there will be a day, without question, where we will all be together, reunited as a family in Gods presence - no more tears, no more pain, no more sin- and that is the eternal perspective we all keep . Thank you Lord, for the life you gave Norma and all the lives she touched on earth. Bring comfort and strength to Dan and Ally and all those close to her. Praying for you.

My mother was a teacher at Young World Preschool. There are so many great memories of Norma I can't name them all. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She sure loved those children. My son, and daughter were students there.

Norma was a special woman of God who was a supportive and loving mom. I remember spending many weekends as a child and teenager with the Myers family, even vacationing 1 year to the Outer Banks with them. She was always cheerful and carried the joy of the Lord in her. She was a beautiful woman of God who will be sorely missed.
