Richard Clarke Obituary

Clarke Richard J. Clarke, age 61, passed away on September 2, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital from complications of an automobile accident on July 21, 2015. Rick was born at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Bishop Watterson High School, Columbus, OH for two years and graduated from Alexis I. Dupont High School, Greenville, DE. He returned to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University, School of Journalism, from which he graduated in 1976. After several years with a Maryland newspaper, he joined Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio from which he retired in 2012 after 35 years of service. His last posting with Marathon was in Equatorial Guinea in Africa for several years and he relished this experience. He had recently retired to Powell, Ohio. Rick is survived and will be missed by sons, Ryan J. Clarke (Sangeet), Benjamin J. Clarke (Casey); grandchildren, Jo Lee and Reehan Clarke; his former spouse, Mary Ann Hoover Clarke; mother, Agnes Clarke; sisters, Barbara Lynch (Chico), Mary Boyle (John), Louise Clarke (Chuck Easley), Margaret Hunt (Mike Hathaway), Kelly Giblin (Thomas); brothers, Bernard J. Clarke, Jr. (Lisa) and James E. Clarke (Patty); numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father Bernard J. Clarke. Service will be private with a celebration of Rick's life to be planned at a future date. Rick volunteered for many years at The City Mission and the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, OH.
