No amount of time could erase my experience as a friend with Rich. Even today in 2024, I still miss Rich badly, still want to pick up the phone and call to laugh about something, still want to hear his stories of DC, Dr Lucky and golf. Rich was a terrific friend and I sure miss him to this day. I didn´t just work with Rich, he was a great friend. It is incredibly difficult to believe he has been gone ten years. So many memories.

In addition, Rich´s Dad, Earl, was a great trumpet player and played with the Holiday On Ice in1954. That is where his parents met. Marge and I followed them around the local area that season.

Rich’s mother Marge was my best friend for many years in Sioux City. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding in May of 1955. If this gets to any of the family please contact me. I have several pictures of Richie as a child that I would love to give to a family member. Adalynn James. 740-601-2012. I live in Circleville, Ohio. I am 85 years old. I wish I had got to see Rich before he passed. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Its hard to imagine Rich has been gone this long. His laugh still rings, in my memory, with his parents and mine. So many acts of my childhood with Landsbergs in starring roles.

It is 6 years today that Rich left us to join our Father in Heaven. I think of Rich each day, so grateful he was in my life teaching me, guiding me, mentoring me, and being my friend. Rich taught me to be a "student of the game" and each day I try to learn something new in my field or express it differently. I think of Rich each time I write an article or give a presentation to an audience, thanking him for what he taught me to enhance my writing and speaking skills. Rich has left us in body, but not in soul; and as the many lessons he leaves us with are implemented each day, Rich continues to contribute to the world.
God Bless you Rich
Your Dear Friend, Shawn

From our days in high school together, to our recent meetings at the Machine Shed in Urbandale, I sat and watched in wonder as Rich spun stories and retrieved long forgotten memories with which to entertain us. Bigger-than-life, loved by hundreds, he will be missed for many, many years. I have no words to express the depth of loss I feel with his passing. Know that we in Urbandale are here for you Kay.

Kay, I only met Richard the one time in December, but he seemed to be very nice and personable. After reading this obituary, it is evident that he lived a very full and productive life. I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers during this time.

Goodbye dear friend. From our first conversation to our last you made me laugh, you made me frustrated, but more importantly - you made me think. We had so many great experiences in so many cities it would take pages to recount them all. I will miss your friendship and honor those memories. The entire industry will feel this loss.

Rich was my friend, my advocate, my mentor, my teacher. I am privileged to have studied under him and more prividleged to have worked with him. Rich was one of the most brilliant people on earth, yet he never ceased being a student. Rich taught me to always continue to pursue a higher level of knowledge - that it is not enough to have passion for what you do, you also have to have the passion to keep improving how you do it. Rich instilled passion in people. He loved teaching and helping people learn and improve themselves. Thank you my friend for believing in me, and for the gift of your time teaching me life changing lessons. I shall do my best to pass it forward.
