Rita Rose Gilkerson Hallam, November 25, 1930 – March 17, 2019
Passing away peacefully in her home, Rita joined the love of her life, Edward J Hallam, on a sunny St Patrick's Day morning. Survived by her brother, Raymond P Gilkerson (Nancy) and four children: Edward C Hallam (Henrietta), Robert R Hallam, Kathleen A Morris (Brian) and Rose M Hallam Vidmar. She had nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Services are to be held Saturday March 30th 1pm Schoedinger Funeral Home, 6699 N High St, Worthington, Ohio 43085. Refreshments immediately after at North Baptist Church, 76 Charleston Ave, Columbus Ohio 43214. Lastly, a celebration with spirits at Villa Nova bar, 5545 N High St, Worthington Ohio 43085. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to North Baptist Church or the Elks, 5469 Sandalwood Blvd, Columbus Ohio 43229.

My thoughts are with all of Aunt Rita's loving family and friends. She was always welcoming and caring. I will remember her kind words and ready laugh. Never one to dwell on difficulties or unpleasantness, Rita was always a ray of sunshine, with a positive word of encouragement. God bless her, and her large family too!

Aunt Rita was a sweetheart. Even as a little kid I knew that. Soft spoken, and quick to laugh. She could spot ornery a mile away. I have great memories of her and my Dad (her little brother) and their siblings laughing and reminiscing, of her opening the backdoor to let me run out to watch the trains roar by, of Friday nights watching scary shows in her living room as she and Uncle Ed and my parents played cards, of walking with her to the little green store on the corner to buy candy. We will always love and remember you, Auntie Rita.

Aunt Rita was such a wonderful person to be with. She had a lovely sense of humor and fun. She used to watch my brother and me on occasion when we were younger and we had the best times! You were always kind to everyone. I will miss you and I love you.

I met Rita in 1969 when I started doing her hair at a shop in Worthington. We became fast friends and I always thought of her as a second mother. We stayed great friends throughout the years. She was a loving person and always put everyone ahead of herself. She will be sadly missed by me and my husband.
