Roger Blair Obituary

Blair Roger Sobel Blair, age 71, passed away on January 25, 2015. Preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Gladys Blair. He is survived by his wife, Sherran Blair; daughters, Kory Blair, Dee Kates and Kay Rothman; sister, Joan Blair (Don Schuler); grandchildren, Andrea and Kevin Kates; brother-in-law, Doug (Joyce) Simson. He received a BA from Otterbein College, a JD from the Univ. of Toledo School of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1968. He was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of First Community Bank. Over the years, some of the positions he has held have been: serving as the legal council for Ohio Governor James Rhodes; serving on the Governor's Task Force for the Division of Financial Institutions; an Ohio State Banking Commissioner; and the Ohio Banker's Assoc. Government Relations Chair. Funeral services and interment will be led by Rabbi Misha Zinkow and held in Brooklyn, NY. The family will be sitting Shiva led by Rabbi Areyah Kaltmann on Sunday at their home, 4670 Tensweep in New Albany at 7 p.m. and will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. prior. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Otterbein University, OSU James Cancer Hospital, Lori Schottenstein Chabad House or Temple Israel in his memory. • I worked with Roger for many years at the US Department of HUD. Roger and I shared the same sense of humor, which resulted in our sharing many funny stories. He always provided me valuable support on the many legal decisions that were required in our everyday work. Rest in peace my friend…I will miss you.
