Timothy Ries Obituary

Ries Timothy C. Ries, 65, of Chillicothe, died February 10, 2016, at his home following an extended illness. He was born April 21, 1950, in Columbus, OH to the late Robert C. and Irene C. Rasor Ries. On July 19, 1980, he married Julia Suzanne Hertzog, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Nicholas (Tonya) Ries, Delaware, OH, Elaina (Andrew) Busold, Denver, CO; a granddaughter, Abilene Ries; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky (Jeff) Kading, Carol Ries and Lori (Tony) Iacovetta; special nieces and nephews, Glenn Elder, Gayle (Jeff) Dittmer, Leanne Iacovetta, Robert Kading, Jacob (Erica) Hertzog and Brian Hertzog; his in-laws, William and Verletta Hertzog; a sister-in-law, Leslie (Paul) Hertzog-Carrelas; and a brother-in-law, David (Nancy) Hertzog. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Meredith Elder and a nephew Michael Iacovetta. Tim was a graduate of Whetstone High School, Class of 1968. He then earned his Bachelor's Degree from the Ohio State University in 1974. While at OSU, he was a member of the Men's Varsity Golf Team from 1971-73. Tim went on to become a PGA Class-A Golf Professional. He worked as a Golf Professional at Chillicothe Country Club from 1981-1993. He later retired from Columbus Roof Trusses following 18 years of service. Tim was a member of the Varsity O Alumni Association and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, writing, loved his music and was a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes fan. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 20, at HALLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY with Pastor Janet Hatch officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.
