Virginia Boggs Obituary

Boggs Virginia "Ginny" Eye Boggs, 91, of Pickerington, Ohio and formerly of Reynoldsburg, passed away June 12, 2017 at Abbington of Pickerington. She maintained her dignity and dry sense of humor throughout her struggles with dementia and complications from falls. Preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Jane Eye, husband Bill Boggs, children Bill, Ben and Jane Ann (infant), brothers David Eye and Bill Myers, sisters Imogene Myers and Mary Eye. Left to cherish her memory: daughter, Sarah (Scott) Richardson; grandchildren, Jessica and Jenna Boggs and Nathaniel Richardson; great grandchildren, Madison, Shawn, Kadence, Major and Mikie; brothers, Harlan Eye and Charles Boggs Jr.; and sister, Marie Eye; numerous nephews, nieces and many dear friends. Born in 1926 in Franklin, West Virginia, Virginia was fiercely proud of her heritage and family. She could trace two direct lines of ancestry to militiamen in the battle of Yorktown and she demonstrated some of that independence and determination throughout her life. As a girl, Virginia preferred to work with her father in the fields on the farm, rather than in the house. She attended Bridgewater College where she earned a Bachelor of Education and a Music Minor, participated in theatre, orchestra and women's basketball. Virginia taught high school in Circleville, West Virginia until she married Bill Boggs. Together they lived in Washington D.C., Alaska, Florida, Washington, West Virginia and Ohio. Virginia was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. A longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Virginia volunteered in many roles. She was intelligent, articulate, playful, had a quick wit and was always ready to help anyone in need. Virginia made friends easily, was compassionate, open minded, and loved an impromptu celebration. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Memorial service to be held Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1200 Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. In lieu of flowers, consider memorial contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
