Wilbur Sherman Smith

Smith Wilbur Sherman "Sonny" Smith, Jr., age 77, of Canal Winchester, OH, entered his heavenly home Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Born on November 15, 1935 in Lima, OH to the late Wilbur S. Sr. and Thelma N. Smith. He was a graduate of Hamilton H.S. and served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain's assistant. He was President and CEO of the Anchor Pattern Company and a member of Lithopolis United Methodist Church. He had a deep conviction of his Christian beliefs, always exemplifying his love for Christ. He was active in church youth organizations at Redeemer United Brethren Church and Hope E.U.B. Church. He was also a Sunday School teacher for the Stepping Stones class at Faith Memorial Church. He loved spending time with his family and showing love to others through his overwhelming generosity. Survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara Smith; children, Will S. (Robin) Smith, III, Andy C. Smith (aka Chuck), Canal Winchester, and Teri (Gary) Hall, Carroll; grandchildren, W. Sherman (Alli) Smith, IV, Grant Smith, Tyler Smith, Betsy Smith, and Abbie Hall; great-grandson, Aiden Smith; brother, Tom (Patty) Smith, Canal Winchester; sisters, Kathleen (Don) Griffith, Groveport, Margy Carr, North Carolina; many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 W. Market St., Lithopolis. Pastors Ken Mulpas and Mark Barbee of Fairfield Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Lithopolis Cemetery.
