William Headlee Obituary

HEADLEE William E. "Bill" Headlee, 70, of Dublin, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Riverside Hospital. Born December 19, 1936. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Retired from Dublin City Schools. Instrumental in founding the Dublin Athletic Hall of Fame and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. Instrumental in founding the Dublin Athletic Boosters in 1958. Received the All-Sports Fan Award 1986-87 and was awarded the #1 Sports Fan in 2000. He was a volunteer assistant to Dublin Coffman baseball team. Member of the Dublin Community Church. Preceded in death by parents Earl and Bertha Headlee, brothers John and David Headlee and sisters-in-law Wilma and Catherin Headlee. Survived by brothers, Harold, George M., Lee (Barbara), Richard (Arlene), Charles (Margie), Roger (Diane), Wayne (Shelby) and Jim (Claudette) Headlee; sisters, Irma Jean (Jack) Extenkamper, Eula (Jack) Price and Sharon (John) Shoemaker; sisters-in-law, Norma and Betty Headlee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Dublin Community Church, 81 W. Bridge St., Dublin, OH 43017. Rev. Robert Tussing officiating. Burial Dublin Cemetery. Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St. (Powell Rd./St. Rt. 750/ 1/4 mile east of Sawmill Pkwy.), Powell, OH 43065. Billy Headlee touched more lives than anyone will ever know. He was committed to the youth of Dublin. He was their biggest fan, supporter and friend.
