MANTACHIE - Drew Greenwood, 28, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at his residence in Mantachie. He was born April 23, 1988, to Mark Eugene Greenwood and Peri Ann Griffin in Mississippi. He was was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Aberdeen.
Drew was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, husband and friend to many. In addition, he was a very loving, well-intentioned individual with a truly big heart and an infectious laugh who started the first of his many jobs at Aberdeen Floral at the tender age of eight. There, under the direction of the late Lawson Grimes, he became a talented floral designer who also decorated various local homes during the Christmas season.
Following his sophomore year at Aberdeen High School, Drew was selected to attend Mississippi School for Math and Science, but transferred back to AHS, where he was on the drum line. After graduating in 2006, he also attended Itawamba Community College.
He loved his family, loved life and enjoyed attending Mississippi State football games with his grandparents, his sister, Laura and his only nephew, Tyler Greenwood with whom he had a particularly close bond and who he affectionately called ""Doodle-Bug.""
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of less than a year, Tangela ""Tangie"" Greenwood of Mantachie, Mississippi; his mother, Peri Ann Griffin (Nadine) of Aberdeen; one sister, Laura Kendall Greenwood of Amory, Mississippi; a very special nephew, Tyler Andrew Greenwood; maternal grandparents, Don and Sallie Ann Rowe of Aberdeen, Mississippi; stepfather, Robert Wheeler of Aberdeen, Mississippi; aunt, Kendall Smith (Andrea) of Burton, Ohio; his mother and father-in-law, Gary and Patsy Franks of Mantachie, Mississippi; a very special cousin, Annabelle Smith; aunt, Katie White; grandfather, Perry Smith (Martha) of Tupelo, Mississippi; and aunt, Kristie Greenwood Carter of Wren, Mississippi; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Greenwood and his uncle, Chris Smith.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. There will also be a visitation held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Pallbearers will be Robert Wheeler, Richard Johnston, Tommy Rowe, Brian West, Trent Armstrong, Joe Moszczienski, Terry Harris and Michelle Hall.
