Arma Seals Obituary

On November 19, 2025 Arma Jean Heard Seals was known as "Umbay " to many peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

A life-long member of New Zion M.B. church in Plantersville, MS where she served on the Usher Board and the Benevolent Board.

Arma received her formal education with the Lee County Public School System.

She made history as part of the first integrated graduating class of Shannon High School in 1968.

A former employee of Arvin, FMC, Tecumseh and later retired from the Lee County School System where she enjoyed working with children in the Special Education Department.

Her Life Celebration Service will be Noon at the New Zion M.B. Church on Saturday, November 29, 2025 with Rev. Clester Davis, officiant and Rev. Rickey Lawson, Sr. eulogies.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Grayson-Porter's Mortuary, online condolence can be made at www.grayson-porters.com

Vastation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at the church, 5:00 until 7:00 and one hour prior to service on Saturday.

Arma leaves her cherished memories to her husband of 56 years, Joe N. Seals, Sr; four children: Katrenia Seals-Thorton of Orlando, Florida, Joe N. Seals, Jr. of Starkville, Mississippi, Katosha Seals-Bowden (Calvin) of Gaffney South Carolina and Takeisha Seals of Shannon, Mississippi. Arma was blessed to have eleven grandchildren: Yuri Thornton, Chloe Thornton, Jazmyne Iroin Zelford Irions, Jr, Lahala Irions, Archie Iroins, Destinee Lawston,

Kaleighia Pierce, Quintel Pierce, Peyton Ford and Aria Fells.

She is survived by two sisters Daisy Sadler ( Rev. H.B. Sadler) of

Plantersville, MS Joann Hendrix ,Two brothers Charles Heard (

Mary Jo) of Plantersville, MS and J.B. Heard (Sharon) of San

Diego, CA. Two sister-in-laws Gloria Heard of Canton, MI and

Evelyn Heard of Taylor, MI. One brother-in-law; Hal Seals (Ollie)

of Okolona, MS. Arma was lovingly known as " Aunty Umbay "

to a host of nieces and nephews. Whom she treated as her own,

they were there to the end. She was preceded in death by her

parents : Hal Sr and Agnolia Heard and her siblings : Jefferson

Heard ( Charlene), Elnora Wilson, Vernell Roberts, Felix Heard,

Linda Gayle Heard, Joe Guyton Heard, Estella Heard, Verna

Heard-Lawson(Odie Lawson), Hal Heard Sr and brother in law

John Hendrix Sr, Charlie Seals, George Seals ( Lorene), James (Rosie) Seals

and a host of other relatives and friends.
