Barry Reid Rinehart, born on November 21, 1955, in Baldwyn, MS, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 5:15 a.m., surrounded by loved ones as he took his final breath.
Barry lived a life defined by faith, service, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was a dedicated member and deacon of Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church, where his strong faith guided his every step and provided a foundation for the life he built.
Barry's passion for education led him to attend Pine Grove School and Northeast Community College before earning a master's degree in Agricultural Education from Mississippi State University. His career was spent shaping young minds and inspiring future generations through his work as a teacher and FFA advisor. He was a proud lifetime member of the FFA, a testament to his lifelong dedication to Agricultural Education and youth development. During his high school years, Barry demonstrated his leadership and commitment to the FFA by serving as the Mississippi State FFA Secretary in 1973 and 1974. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving an enduring mark on the many students whose lives he touched.
Barry also served his country with great honor and distinction. He began his military service on September 9, 1983, with the Howitzer Battery, where he served until September 1989. He then transferred to the Mississippi Military Academy (MMA) at Camp Shelby, MS, where he served and taught for 12 years, imparting his knowledge and leadership to countless soldiers. Later, he transferred to the Alabama Army Reserve, where he completed his distinguished military career after 34 years of service. Barry also answered the call of duty by serving one tour of duty in Iraq, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving his country.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Barry found great fulfillment in working the land. He was a proud and dedicated farmer, raising cattle, goats, donkeys, chickens, and dogs. His love for agriculture and the land was a reflection of his values - hard work, patience, and an abiding respect for nature.
His Visitation will be Wednesday March 26, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. His Service will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at McBride Funeral Home Chapel. His Committal will be at Little Hope Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Barry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Annette Jackson Rinehart, with whom he built a life filled with love and cherished memories. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Evie Mauney Rinehart; his father- and mother-in-law, Edwin and Bobbye Jean James Jackson; and his brother-in-law, Keith Cappleman.
Barry's legacy lives on through his children, Nicole (Jimmy) and Bradley Rinehart (Shannon), whose lives are a testament to his love, guidance, and example. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Payton Brock (Trenton) and Chandler Brackett (Grace), and his precious great-granddaughter, Elena Brock, who brought him endless happiness.
Barry is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lonette Cappleman and Patty Reaves (Larry); his nephew, Casey Cappleman (Jenny); his nieces, Cortney Cappleman and Brittney Westmoreland (Allen); and his great-nieces, Addison Cappleman and Amelia Westmoreland. He leaves behind a host of cousins and lifelong friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
He also leaves behind his longtime friends, Donna McClain and Ruth Hopkins, who are devoted nurses for his son, and whose friendship and support were a source of comfort during Barry's final days.
In the last year of his life, Barry was blessed with the companionship of his special friend, Mary Sue Perrigo, whose presence brought joy and comfort during his final days.
Barry's life was one of quiet strength, steadfast love, and profound service. His influence will echo through the lives of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. Though he is gone from this world, his legacy of faith, integrity, and love will endure for generations to come.
