Blair Tigrett Chapman passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House on September 11, 2017, at the age of 47. Blair was born on August 29, 1970, in Booneville, MS, to James Barrett and Bobbye Tigrett Chapman. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1988 and began working at his parent's grocery store, Chapman's Big Red Foods. He later became the co-owner of Chapman's Big Red Foods until the store closed in 2010. Subsequently, Blair attended the University of Mississippi and studied real estate. After obtaining his real estate license, Blair worked for Five Star Realty.
Blair always had a special zeal for cooking. He began cooking at an early age with a passion for learning new recipes and techniques. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville and studied Food Services. He worked at the Dirt Dobber Restaurant in Ripley, Chapman's Restaurant in Corinth, and many other restaurants. Cooking and Baking was a hobby of Blair's, he very much enjoyed catering for multiple events in the local area. In recent years, Blair worked at the Cracker Barrel Restaurants in both Tupelo and Corinth, Mississippi. He was always compassionate to everyone he met and went above and beyond in caring for other people. Blair's easy presence, sense of humor, and great compassion for others earned him space in the hearts of many people. In addition, Blair made many lifelong friends while interacting in his many activities such as cooking, catering, or managing Chapman's Big Red Foods.
In 2009, Blair had two liver transplants at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Organ Center after having multiple health issues. After his liver transplants, he became an Ambassador for the Alabama Organ Center. He assisted in leading several fund-raising activities such as creating multiple cookbooks, cooking meals, and helping with the "Annual Organ Donor Picnic".
Blair loved the church, especially his home congregation Chapman Church of Christ. He taught multiple Bible classes, assisted with Lads to Leaders, and led singing. He was always ready to do whatever was needed for the Church and its many members.
Visitation will be held at the Chapman Church of Christ on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4 PM until 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Chapman Church of Christ on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Noon with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Ministers will be Mark Lindley, Leslie Chapman, Dr. Patrick Chapman. Song leaders for the service will be Dan Shappley, James Chapman and Jonathan Chapman. Burial will follow at the Chapman Church of Christ Cemetery.
Blair is survived by his parents, James Barrett and Bobbye Tigrett Chapman of Ripley, MS; his siblings, Zengara Spencer of Durant, OK; James Barrett Chapman and his wife, Cheryl of Germantown, TN; Beverly Grisham, and her husband, Jason of Corinth, MS; and nieces and nephews, Suzanne Irene Chapman, James Barrett Chapman III, Jonathan Zackrison Chapman III, Caroline Grace Grisham, and Catherine Faith Grisham. He is survived by twenty-three first cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Lottie Mauney Chapman; and Delta and Rhetta Wingo Tigrett, and his first cousin Hugh Rex Chapman.
Pallbearers will be James Chapman, Jonathan Chapman, Ronald Chapman, Terry Chapman, Chase Chapman, Dain Chapman, Blaine Chapman, Judd Chapman, Dan Shappley, Nathan Robertson, Brent Waldon, Allen McMillen.
