Danny Ray Peters

1947 - 2025

Danny Ray Peters, 77, departed from his home to his Heavenly home on October 6, 2025 after battling a chronic illness. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1967. He attended Mississippi State. He was drafted into the Army and served during the Vietnam War. He married his wife, Virginia, in 1972 and worked for the Corp of Engineering and later worked for the United States Post Office where he retired from in 2001. He spent his retired life enjoying time with his grandkids, hunting with his brothers in their cabin on the river in Tennessee, fishing, and gardening. Him along with his 5 brothers found a hobby in carpentry, and together they built over 10 family homes which they enjoyed. He was a member of South Prentiss Baptist Church. Danny confirmed his faith prior to his death and is in the presence of the Lord today.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Johnson Peters of Guntown; his only son, Jason Ray Peters (Brandi) of Guntown; sisters, Tresa Hall (Fred) of Saltillo and Lorraine Sandlin of Baldwyn; brothers, Kenny Peters (Phylis), Trent Peters (Jean), and Gary Peters (Iva Nell), all of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Anna Brooke Peters Green (Brooks) and Jaden Peters; great-grandchild, Georgia Green; host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Wilma Cook Peters; brothers, Lanny Peters and Ricky Peters.

Pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Dalton Hall, Dillon Hall, Tracy Peters, Joey Peters, Adam Peters, Charles Peters, Jonathan Peters, Barry Peters, Nathan Peters, Jake Sandlin and Matthew Sandlin.

Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be at Waters Funeral Home on Thursday, October 09, 2025 at 2:00 pm with visitation prior from 12 pm until service starts with Bro. Matthew Pharr officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Methodist Cemetery with no grave side services.
