Eugene Autry

1935 - 2017

Eugene "Bobby" Autry, 81, passed away January 13, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 25, 1935 in Pontotoc, MS to Cleve Autry and Della McKinnon.

Eugene retired from Brookwood Manufacturing after 35 years of service. He was a well-known "Chef" and for most of his adult life he enjoyed raising cattle. He was a member of Naylor Chapel CME Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Treasurer and President of the Board of Stewards for over 40 years.

He was the husband of Effie Harrell Autry and the father of three sons. His parents, two sons: Melvin Autry and Michael Autry, and one brother: Presley Autry, preceded him in death.

To cherish his loving memories he leaves his wife of 62 years: Effie Harrell Autry of Pontotoc, one son: Steve (Cheviere) Autry also of Pontotoc, two brothers: Lawrence (Irene) Autry of Holly Springs and Billy (Katie) Autry of Oxford, one sister: Luller B. Ray of Beloit, WI, grandchildren: Marcus (Karin) Autry, Michael Autry, Maris Autry, Stephanie (Lee) Cooper, Sarah (Steve) Vanzant and Mike Hall, III, two daughters-in-law: Ruthie Autry of Pontotoc and Benita Autry of Houston, MS, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home, 248 Highway 15 South, Pontotoc, Funeral Service: Friday, January 20, 1:00 p.m., Naylor Chapel CME Church, 326 Clark Street, Pontotoc, MS with burial at Pontotoc City Cemetery.
