George Morgan Obituary

George Sherman Morgan, 80, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home. He was born in Calhoun County on March 25, 1937 to Clarence Morgan and Frankie Moore Morgan. He had served his country in the United States Army. Sherman was self-employed as a carpenter for many years before his retirement.

He is survived by his son, Tommy Brooks of Pontotoc; his sister, Idell Walls of Houlka; a granddaughter, Tiffany Brooks of Houlka, a special niece Janie Tutor of Houlka and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Taylor Morgan; his parents, Clarence and Frankie Morgan; his brothers, Charles Bennett Morgan and Clarence Edward Morgan; and a great-great niece, Sydney Earp.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 9 at 2:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Brother Junior Ritchey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, October 8 from 5:00 until 8:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel.
