Glenn Hudson Obituary

Tupelo - Mr. Glenn C. Hudson, 82, died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House following a brief illness. He was one of ten children born to Thomas Hudson and Cora Lee Thomas Hudson; born in Jasper, Alabama on July 10, 1933. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict stationed at Fort Knox. When he finished his military duty, he attended college at Bradley University in Peoria, IL where he earned his Associate Degree. He married Carol Hamilton in March of 1954 and they shared fifty-three years until her death in 2007. They moved to Tupelo in 1961, coming from Jasper, AL.

Glenn was self-employed in the restaurant and restaurant equipment business, including owning and operating Sherer's Drive In for many years. He was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church before his health began to fail, and he was a Mason. He enjoyed his job, fixing things, and never being idol. He had a giving heart, and he and Carol opened the doors of their home when needed. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Matt Scopel officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to service time only.

He is survived by his children, Mark Hudson (Cathy) and Susan Dudley (Brian), all of Tupelo; his daughter-in-law, Mary Hudson of Starkville, MS; brother, Truman Hudson (Virginia) of Jasper, AL; sisters, Zoe Thomas of Chattanooga, TN, Elsie Cotrell (Sherman) of Huntsville, AL, and Peggy Brooks of Mantachie; sister-in-law, Betty Hudson of Furrs Community; seven grandchildren, Jared Hudson, Jordan Hudson, Melinda Hudson, Lela Johnson, Nancy Hudson, Luke Hudson, and Dennis Hudson; two great-grandchildren, Owen Hudson and Zander Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, and other death relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip G. Hudson.

Pallbearers will be Darren Hudson, Luke Hudson, Dennis Hudson, Ryan Johnson, Keith Burton, and Joe Kulovitz.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be sent to Sanctuary Hospice House, P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803 or Parkway Baptist Church, 1302 Lee Street, Tupelo, MS 38804. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected].
