Greg Jolly

1973 - 2023

Greg Jolly, 50, met his savior on September 11, 2023 after a brief illness. Greg was born on August 2, 1973 to Russell and Rhonda Jolly in Houston, MS. Greg's love of everyone started at an early age and he has never met a stranger. While growing up in Houston, Greg was an exceptional athlete excelling in football and baseball. After graduating from Houston High School, class of 1992, Greg attended and played baseball at Itawamba Community College where he assisted his team in winning the State Championship in 1993. Greg continued his education at Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and received his Bachelors of Business Administration Degree. While attending Mississippi State University Greg met the true love of his life Jenny Dunehew Jolly and they were married 26 years. Greg and Jenny had three sons that they centered their lives around. They spent their 26 years of marriage in the Tupelo and Saltillo area other than one year during 2012-2013 that they spent in Long Beach, MS. Greg had a very successful career in sales. He spent time working for Quaker Fabric, JLA, Waste Management, Blacklidge Emulsions, BSN Sports, and FiTec. He ended his career as a Sales Representative for Jostens, where he received The Rookie of The Year Award and earned a place as a member of The Founders Club. Greg was also an Independent Contractor and owner of Old South Designs LLC.

Greg's favorite pastimes were times spent with his family and friends. His extended family included the many friends of all three of his boys. Greg and Jenny believed in an open door policy in their home so their house was always full of love and laughter. Favorite family activities included skydiving, surfing, skiing, boating, but most of all traveling. Some of his favorite trips included a European vacation, two trips to the Big Island of Hawaii, and snow skiing in Colorado with his boys.

Time well spent for Greg was always when sports were involved. Whether it be watching on television or in person participating, watching or coaching his boys, Greg was an all-in athlete. Many years were spent coaching the boys. In baseball, soccer, football, basketball, and watching tennis. Over the years, he might occasionally be found playing in a game of volleyball, softball or corn hole, but more recently, a golf course is where Greg could be found.

Greg and his family were regular attenders at the The Orchard -Tupelo.

Greg was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John S. Brand Jr.; his paternal grandparents, J.D. and Miriam Jolly; his aunt, Jennifer Clayton and his mother-in-law, Judy Perrigo Dunehew.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Dunehew Jolly; his sons, John Mark, Will and Jacob; his parents, Russell and Rhonda Jolly of McCondy; grandmother, Neta Brand of McCondy; his brother, Brandon (Natalie) and their children, Rebecca, Kate and John, of Starkville; his sister-in-law, Robin Maynard and her sons Andrew and Clay as well as many loved and cherished aunts, uncles and cousins and their families. He also leaves his beloved cat, T.J.

Pallbearers will be Joe Huckaby, Ian Huckaby, Bennett Maynard, Stephen Hood, Greg Randolph, Chris Smith, Johnny Ferrell, Mike Jones, Jim Blissard, and Scott Jolly.

Honorary Pallbearers are anyone Greg has coached, whether in life or in sports.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at The Orchard in Tupelo with Will Rambo officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM today (Friday, Sept. 15) at Holland Funeral Directors, and again on Saturday from 10 AM to service time at the church.
