NETTLETON – James Dale Nolen, 72, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on October 14, 1943, in Monroe County to James Curtis and Ruby Smith Nolen. He was a native of Monroe County, but had resided in Lee County for the past 45 years. He was a retired employee of Phillips Day-Brite Lighting of Tupelo, and he was a Baptist. He was a veteran, Specialist Four, with the U.S. Army National Guard of Mississippi for 21 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and being with his dog ""Trixie"".
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Tommy Dabbs, Jr. officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Smith Nolen of Nettleton; three daughters, Sandra Russell (Glen) of Saltillo, Diane Loden (Aaron) of Dorsey, and Debbie Wood (Charles) of Nettleton; two sons, Milton Miles of Booneville and Ricky Miles of Nettleton; two brothers, Harold Nolen (Cheryl) of Alabama and Jimmie Nolen of Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jackie and Joey Nolen; one great-granddaughter, Emileigh Davis; one grandson, Wesley Wood; one son-in-law, Mike Davis.
Pallbearers will be Mike Osterhout, William Osterhout, Charles Wood, Matt Wood, Shane Kennedy, Ladarius Young.
Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Tackett, Gavin Kennedy, Christopher Davis, Junior Miles.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue Tuesday from 12 noon until time for services at the funeral home.
