John Cadden Obituary

Worship the Lord with gladness, come before Him with joyful songs.

John Wayne "Johnny" Cadden left this life to continue worshiping in the presence of the Lord on August 20, 2025. Johnny was born on November 13, 1938, in Amory, Mississippi to Ernest Carlisle Cadden and Wilma Smith Cadden.

Johnny graduated from Amory High School with the class of 1956. He was an ambitious and driven young man. Johnny began work as a mechanic for Scribner Equipment Company. He later spent many years as a successful heavy equipment salesman. After retiring, Johnny enjoyed several pastimes. He was an avid and competitive golfer winning many trophies. In quieter moments he liked to do crossword puzzles and watch NCIS. He had many friends and enjoyed meeting for breakfast with a group of them at Jack's restaurant.

His faith in God and his family were priorities in his life and it was evident in all the lives he touched. Johnny was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Amory. The Lord gifted Johnny with a beautiful voice. He enjoyed singing with the First Baptist Church choir and with the Witness Band. He worked with several mission groups and made many trips with them to Brazil.

There will never be another Johnny Cadden. He was a genuinely kind Christian man who cherished every acquaintance and friendship. He spread love everywhere he went and was always quick with a smile and a hug. He never met a person he did not like.

Johnny was a devoted family man, and he was blessed with a large family. He provided for his family through the years and always instilled in them the importance of loving the Lord. He leaves behind his wife, Nell Johnson Cadden, Amory, MS; children, Melinda Calmes (Fred), Tupelo, MS, Tommy Cadden (Mollye), Amory, MS, Terri Hughes (Russell), Tupelo, MS, Renea Randle (David), Amory, MS, Tim Johnson (Jill), Amory, MS, Mindy Maxcy (Brian), Oxford, MS; sister, Nancy Seals; sister-in-law, Margaret Cadden; grandchildren, Janet Cadden, Gainesville, FL, Mikki White (Ryan), Pontotoc, MS, Kathie Rhoden (Jimmy), Keystone Heights, FL, Jessica Bowling (Raymond), Fulton, MS, Kayla Sorrels (Travis), Brookhaven, MS, Bryan Smith (Cassi), Jackson, MS, Cooper Hughes, Tupelo, MS, Rebecca Hall (Will), New Orleans, LA, Matthew Randle (Stephanie), Madison, MS, Michael Randle (Heather), Gunter, TX, Zack Johnson (Tori), Amory, MS, Ethan Johnson, Amory, MS, Joe Maxcy, Oxford, MS, Luke Maxcy, Oxford, MS; 28 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Horne Cadden; the mother of his children Barbara Lowery Justice; his brother Ernest "Sonny" Cadden; his daughter-in-law, Gina Cadden; and his niece Dollie Cadden.

Johnny's family takes comfort today knowing the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
