Mr. Lee Milan Ivy was born in the Union Baptist Community in Shannon, MS on May 13, 1954, to the late Jimmie Lee Ivy and the late Ernestine Harvey Ivy. He was the eleventh child out of 17 children. Rufus Ivy, Emma Ivy Gunn, Ollie Bell Ivy Sykes, Lenora Ivy Reid, and Charlie Ivy preceded him in death.
He departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc, MS. He accepted Christ at an early age at Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. W.L. Buchanan. Lee Milan's early childhood education began at Sigger's Elementary School in Shannon, MS. His family later moved to Okolona, MS, where he graduated in 1972 from Okolona High School. He was very active in his High School activities. He was a tuba player in the marching band, and an outstanding football, basketball, and baseball player (Pitcher) for Okolona High School. He had the love of baseball where he was a baseball pitcher for the Union Baptist baseball team, Community, and the Snowtown Community baseball team. He was employed with Westwood Industry in Tupelo, MS until they closed. He retired from Sara Lee Industry in Tupelo, MS.
On November 21, 1992, Lee Milan united in holy matrimony to Patricia "Pat" Harden Ivy. Lee was known as a great gardener, landscaping his mother and father's yard, and his own yard.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Patricia "Pat" Harden Ivy; children, Mario (Yolanda) Souter, Aaron Souter, Pontotoc, MS; Melanie Ivy, Tupelo, MS; Miranda Thompson, Memphis, TN; April King, Shannon, MS; Tomasina Taliaferro, Summar Bluitt, Kasaundra (Mike) Patton, Pontotoc, MS; and Teena Gates, Shannon, MS; Siblings, Rebecca (Charles) Kelley, Grand Rapids, MI, Lue Della (James) Bryant, Idlewild, MI, Alphonso (Nettie) Ivy, Berkeley, MO, Lorenzo (Doris) Ivy, Okolona, MS, Kathleen Ivy Smith, Tupelo, MS, Maggie (Fuller) Lyons, Bolingbrook, IL; Eva (Willie) Arnold, Memphis, TN, Orlando (Jerry) Ivy, Tupelo, MS; Kelvin (Lela) Ivy, Dorsey, MS; Melvin Ivy, Okolona, MS; and Parlette (Elliott) McGoughy, Memphis, TN; his in-laws, Jackie (Walter) King, Minnie (Ester) Davis, Leonard (Rene) Harden, Pontotoc, MS and Johnny Mac (Precyda) Harden, Huntsville, AL; eighteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at College Hill CME Church in Pontotoc, MS. Interment will follow at Union Baptist M.B. Church Cemetery in Shannon, MS. Services entrusted to Payton Mortuary.
