Raymond McElroy Obituary

Raymond Lloyd McElroy, 84 passed away on August 5, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN after a long battle with lung disease. He was born in Booneville, MS on November 14, 1939, to Charlie W. McElroy and Jewel Boren.

He went to Booneville High School till his junior year graduating from Marietta in 1959 then served in the Navy for 4 years. Raymond married Priscilla Ervin Piercy on June 9, 1963, in Shallotte NC. They had three daughters: Crystal Bryde (Thomas) of Tupelo, MS; Opal Garrett (Jim) of New Albany, MS; and Amanda McElroy of Memphis, TN. Raymond worked with a variety of industries between North Carolina and Mississippi as a member of the maintenance team.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla, 4 grandsons: Matthew, Daniel (Olivia), David Bryde, and Casey Garrett (Haley). He was blessed with a little red-headed great-granddaughter (Scarlett) in 2021. He is survived by his older sister Ruby Fay Brasel and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 4 pm, at Liberty Church of Booneville, MS, 136 CR 130, Booneville, MS, with visitation from 3-4 pm. A military service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
