Born on May 21, 1941, to the late Frank and Flora (Stroup) Gibens, Hop lived a life defined by hard work, fun, and spending time with his friends and family. A retired farmer, truck driver and longtime employee of Grisham Asphalt & Paving, Hop found joy in the work he did. Whether behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler or working the land, he embodied the values of dedication, perseverance, and love for the simple things in life. He also had a deep passion for music, filling his home and heart with country classics and Southern gospel that he could shake a leg to.

Hop was husband to his beloved wife of 61 years, Geraldine Partlow Gibens. Together, they built a strong and loving family. He leaves behind his children: Steve Gibens (Kim), Mark Gibens (Debra), and Paul Gibens (Summer); five grandchildren: Nicole Bullock (Chris), Nick Gibens (Haley), Dustin Gibens (Cristy), Ally Trull (Julian), and Ella Gibens; six great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Lavonia "Lucy" Coburn and Loyce "Molly" Roberson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Hop was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Patsy French, and his brothers, Wesley and Daniel Gibens.
