Charles (Chuck) E. Whigham, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday morning, March 13, 2018 at his residence following multiple illnesses. He was 81. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Troy West officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Columbia City Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-1:45p.m. on Sunday prior to service time. Saint Andrews Street, Dothan, AL 36303, or Felines Under Rescue, P O Box 1788, Dothan, AL, 36303. Chuck was born April 9, 1936 in Columbia, Alabama to Macon Augustus and Nina Lee Anglin Whigham. He was a 1954 graduate of Houston County High School and later graduated from Emory Riddle Aeronautical University at Ft. Rucker with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics. He served in the U. S. Army, Air Force and the National Guard, retiring after 21 years of military service as a Chief Warrant Officer 3, serving 3 tours in Vietnam. He was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal (10th Award) and Good Conduct Medal. After retirement, he worked as a Safety Manager (civil service) and was a pilot for several commercial organizations. He was a member of the V.H.P.A, First Cav. Association, A.O.P.A. and the D.F.C. He enjoyed his home, family and the four-footed members of his household. Mr. Whigham is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bobby Whigham. He is survived by his wife, Joan and four children: Craig D. Branham (Natalie) of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher E. Branham (Claire Lightner) of Ramona, CA, Michele Johnson (Todd) of Wellington, FL and Jennifer Givins of Santa Cruz, CA; step-daughter, Shannon Grandey of Murfreesboro, TN; a brother, Jimmy Whigham of Fairbanks, AK; a sister, Emily Medlen (Michael) of Wicksburg; seven grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff of Covenant Hospice and the Casualty Assistance Office at Ft Rucker. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Medlen, Michael Medlen, Gavin Medlen and Caleb Kneis.
