Ella Vaughan Obituary
Ella Jean Carroll Vaughan of Elba, AL passed away peacefully at her home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, July 12th 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Ella Jean was born in New Brockton, AL in 1934 to parents, Marvin and Bonnie Nicholson Carroll. She was married to Ted Gerald Vaughan in 1955.
She was a lifelong resident of Coffee County and after a marriage she lived in Elba, AL. She loved her church, Elba United Methodist Church and was a long-time member, always faithful in attendance and serving the Lord wherever she could.
Ella Jean enjoyed a very successful career as a Federal employee with the Coffee County Farm Service Agency for 36 years. After retiring from there, she worked 8 years with the Coffee County Board of Registrars. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted and a son Eddie Carroll Vaughan, her brothers and their wives; Edwin Carroll (Nell) and Harrell Carroll (Annie) of New Brockton, AL and Ferrell Carroll (Sue) of Millbrook, AL.
Survivors include her son Ted Gerald Vaughan Jr. (Lisa), Montgomery, AL; daughter in law Melinda Vaughan, Elba, AL and grandson Judson Vaughan (Katie), Millbrook, AL and Colton Vaughan, Elba, AL. Great grandchildren Carter and Lucy Vaughan, Millbrook, AL; Sisters Peggy Stroud of Elba, AL and Betty Owen (John) of Enterprise, AL; stepsister Callie Jones (Doyce) of Enterprise, AL; sister-in-law Elaine Vaughan Martin, Elba, AL. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Also, special friend, Randy Emmett, Chancellor, AL.
To know Ella Jean was to love her. She was a friend to all and treasured their friendship and always held them in high esteem.
In lieu of flowers, Ella Jean has requested that memorials be made to Elba United Methodist Church 503 W. Davis Street, Elba, AL 36323.
Services will be held at Elba United Methodist Church 2:00 PM Friday, July 15th with Min. Steve Reneau officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 at Elba United Methodist Church.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral. Hayes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
