Dear Daddy, this is your Hil-la-poo! I REMEBER your smiles that would light up the darkest of my days. I REMEMBER your sweet but oh so stern voice saying "finish your veggies so you can grow up and be strong"! I REMEBER those long, strong hugs you would give when words just weren't enough But the one thing I remember the most was momma saying she was moving and getting married. It was like my world had crummbled...but thank goodness i had the honor of meeting my "future dad". The day came when I was to meet you, and i'll never forget...one of the questions you asked me was, what I thought about you wanting to marry my momma. I went through a huge list of things that i felt my momma needed (keeping in mind that i wasn't even knee-high to a duck). you took the time to listen (and none of it probably made ANY SENSE WHAT-SO-EVER)but you took the time to show me that you understood how important momma was not just to me but to you as well...AND FOR THAT I TRULY THANK YOU! You know it's funny how WE THINK that we know WHAT WE WANT and WHAT WE NEED but the truth of it all is that GOD KNOWS BEST. Not only did GOD give momma who she needed but little did know GOD ALSO GAVE ME WHO I NEED (YOU). God knew just what he was doing when he placed you in our lives and for that I truly give him thanks. Your smile will forever flash in my mind, the sound of your voice will forever ring in my ear, the love that you had for me and so many others will forever dwell in my heart. I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW.
YOUR HIL-LA-POO

Daddy, I light this candle for you because you are deserving of it and so much more. I miss you more than words can express. I am praising God in the midst of my grieving heart for the word says to be Thankful in all things & situations. I thank God for the 73 years He gave you. You truly were a man after God's own heart. I'm asking God to take me places I've never been in His word. I'm getting to know my heavenly Father like I've never known Him. Thank you daddy for your legacy, your wisdom and teaching me how to be all that I can be. You will always be embedded in my heart to stay. I love you.

My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I was a student of Master Sergant Hogans for three years at Northview High School. He gave me the nickname "Bones", for so long I thought he had forgotten my real name. He always told me I can do whatever I wanted in life; he was right. About three weeks ago I was exercising, my oldest daughter challenged me with hanging on the bar. I told her I was really good in PT, she didn't believe me. I told her the next time we go home to Dothan I was going to bring them to meet him. My biggest regret for not calling at that time. I learned yesterday he died; am sadden by the misopportunity of letting him know again the impact he had on my life. He will truly be missed......RIP

Halie C. will always be remembered as a teacher. His positive influences as a Father, Brother, a Marine, ROTC Instructor and countless of other volunteer services distinquished him from anyone I've known.
Marines are known to be able to "take a message to Garcia".
Simply meaning, the Marine only need an order: No instructions are needed. Halie's services to mankind exemplified every trait of a Marine and what it means to be a Good Man.
To Elaine and the Family know that God called Halie to be with him.
