Hazel Odom Obituary
Hazel June Odom of Samson passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. She was 77. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Samson First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mrs. Odom was born in the Hacoda Community on April 1, 1943, to the late Shadrick and Mary Elizabeth Rice. She retired from the civil service, and later worked as Personnel Director for Geneva County for many years. Mrs. Odom was also a member of the Samson City Council for eight years. She was a very big fan of Alabama Football. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Odom; and all six of her brothers.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Grimes (Debbie) of Samson; grandson, John Marcus Grimes of Clayhatchee; two granddaughters, Haylee Grimes of Samson, and Megan Grimes of Daleville; and three great-grandchildren.
