John Dossett Obituary

John William "Jack" Dossett, a resident of Dale County Road 31, Newton, died Monday morning, April 21, 2008, at his home. He was 79.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with minister Dr. Mark Turner and Freddy Harden officiating. Entombment will follow in the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302 or Christian Home Church of Christ 463 West State Road 92, Newton, AL 36352.
Mr. Dossett was born in Dale County, near Echo, but was reared in the Bethel community, near Newton, son of the late William A. Dossett and Ollie Mae Miller Dossett. He lived between Headland and Midland City for several years before returning to the Bethel community in 1988. He attended Christian Home Church of Christ. Mr. Dossett was retired from U.S. Civil Service at Fort Rucker as a printer. He was preceded in death by a son, William Michael Dossett.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Retha Hutto Dossett, Newton; a daughter, Debbie Dossett Clenny and husband, B.J. Clenny, Ozark; a son, Johnny Dossett and wife, Donna Dossett, Newton; a daughter-in-law, Lou Anne Dossett, Russellville; a sister, Mary Conner, Marianna, Fla., formerly of Newton; eight grandchildren, Shawn Dossett, Jeremy Dossett, Christina Okrzesik and husband, Rick Okrzesik, John Espy Kennedy and wife, Ramona Kennedy, Megan Clenny, Michelle Clenny, Chasity Duke and husband, Chris Duke, Marsha Pressley; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Kennedy; a loving brother-in-law, Billy Hutto and his wife, Gayle Hutto.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Kim Wilson, Kenneth Thomley, Steven Hutto, Chris Duke, Billy Hutto and Tyler Bradshaw.
