John Shiver Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Goodwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrim's Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will accept friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Shiver was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Geneva County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed with Huntington Furniture Company at Napier Field for 33 years. After his retirement, he was employed with the Houston County School System at Wicksburg School.
Mr. Shiver was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Lee Shiver; his parents, John R. and Leola M. Shiver; a sister, Vera Russell; and his brothers, Howard Shiver and Vaughan Shiver.
Survivors include his sons, Danny Shiver and his wife, Janie of Wicksburg, Lee R. Shiver and his wife, Mary of Wicksburg; grandchildren, Kimberle Lindsey of Dothan, Barry Shiver and his wife, Becky of Ozark, John Shiver and his wife, Wendy of Wicksburg; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Durlie Cook; a brother, J.D. Shiver and his wife, Anna Laura; many nieces and nephews.
