Not sure what to say?

Dear Eileen, Bonnie and Jay,

When Kathryn and I learned of John D's passing - we were stunned - with the Victor John's passing just a short time ago and now John D's passing. It seems that we have all lost and yet gained so much. We know that Margaret, Victor John, and now John D, will be waiting for us, with our Lord. And we are looking forward to the day when we will be with them, in Heaven. But until that time, we have to be content with the humor, good memories and happy stores that each of them told while they were with us.

I miss them all, especially John D.

I also know that our missing them here will never be a replacement for your missing John D., Margaret or Victor John.

May the Lord's Blessing continue to flow on you and your's. May His Warmth be all around you, and give you His Peace.

Tawny & family,
I am very sorry to learn of your loss. I remember watching your Dad on the news growing up. I know we teased Tawny at Emmanuel about her "movie star" Dad! I know he will be missed dearly by those who knew him. My prayers are for God to give His Perfect Peace to you all, esp. during the Holidays. Just know he is celebrating Christmas this year like never before, in person with the Savior! "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".

Dear Ellen, Tawny, Tracy and Patrick, So many years have passed since I last saw John or any of you. My time in Dothan was short, but I have many fond memories from that period, including having dinner with you all and attending a Martial Arts Tournament. I had received updates on John through my parents, as well as Bobby and Sue, and my family and I have been praying for you during this time. We are sorry for your loss, and we will continue to pray for God's Mercy, Grace and Peace to strengthen you. May The Lord bless and keep you all.

When I was a child many many years ago we became members of Second Presbyterian Church. At an early age, probably before I really understood a lot about being a Christian, I knew I wanted to be like John D. I could tell he loved the Lord and enjoyed telling us about THAT love and the love he got in return. Today, as we all morn the loss of John D "the person", I rejoice in the fact that he is standing beside HIS Lord and there is still a part of him here in me and will always be.
I will continue to send love and prayers to the entire Williams family during this difficult time. May God bless each and everyone of you.

Dear Ellen and family, I was so sorry to hear about John. I thank God for giving me the gift of calling him "Friend". The years I cut John's hair and was in church with you was a blessing. He always had a smile and a laugh. He looked at the positive and loved his family. He was so studied in history and I loved hearing his stories. He was welcomed home, I'm sure, by his precious grandmother whom he loved dearly. I felt like I knew her so well for he talked of her fondly. He was like a ray of sunshine and I am thankful that he was along my path of life. You are in my prayers. In Christ Love

John was truly unique. His infectious big smile, good looks, friendly demeanor and outgoing personality made you feel at ease and genuinely welcome around him. He served his country well with his dignified military service. His television presence and presentation made you know that he had carefully researched every topic and you were comfortable in believing that what he said was factual.

My heart is with his daughters, his son and his grandchildren and especially with his sweet and dear wife, Ellen. I am praying God is carrying you through these days and those to follow. I am only one among very, very many who will miss him and I am honored to have been one of his friends.

I can hardly believe he is gone. He was such a wonderful character and part of my life. I loved him so much. He let me pick pecans and taught me to drum on the bottom of an oatmeal box. I remember when he chased us down the interstate to give us some squirrel that we had left behind. He will be sorely missed. I'm sorry to miss the service, but I have to get my brother and son off of the school bus. My thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Eileen, Cousins Bonnie and Jay. I love you.

Mrs Williams, Bonnie, and Jay

Mom and I can't attend the service, but we will be with you in our hearts. Second Presbyterian will always be my "childhood" church, no matter how old I get. To this day, I remember John D's sermon in which he mentioned "logorrhea". During one of our visits to 2d in the last 20 years, John D (no doubt in his 80s) actually picked me up to greet me on his arrival that Sunday morning. I'm surprised he didn't hurt himself.
He was truly a missionary for the Lord, but didn't have to flaunt it.

Dear Eileen, Bonnie and Jay..What a privilage to have been close neighbors and "family" lo these many years. Dear Eileen and family,
I was saddened and surprised to read John D's Obiturary. You may not remember me as I moved from Hampton 26 years ago. Walter Smith, John D. and I were car pooling to the shipyard, when I lived on Algonquin Rd., until he retired. I guess it has been a year or more since I called and talked with John D., but a few days ago I was thinking of him and I'd planned to call him. It was refreshing to chat with him and learn about those, of the old gang, that were still living.
Yes, John will be missed by many and I'm sure he had a wonderful life.

Eileen,Bonnie,& Jay,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. John D was a wonderful uncle. There are so many happy memories of his humor and fishing stories. John D will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

November 29, 2011

John D and I lived in the same neighborhood for several years. We would carpool together for work at the shipyard. I have met a lot of friends in my lifetime but John D. ranks at the top. I was certainly going to call him this Christmas. However, the Good Lord has called him home. I will certainly miss him but will laught and joke with him later. Kenny Cullers

Eileen, Jay & Bonnie - What WONDERFUL memories I have of your Dad! When I was a child at 2nd Church, he would come and pull my long red hair over his, and ask, "How does it look?". Daddy only spoke of very very few men he trusted, and John D. was one of them. Please know Kevin and I feel the same way, and he will always be 'family' to us. We love you all, and pray for God's Peace in your hearts. We WILL see him again in Glory!!
