Jordan Speed, 25, a resident of Dothan passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Church of Christ Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12 noon until service time. Jordan was born November 30, 1989 in Dothan, Alabama and he lived here all of his life. He was a 2008 graduate of Ashford Academy. He attended Wallace College and was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. When he was not spending time in the woods or at the water, he opened his heart and soul on paper in volumes of short stories and songs he hoped to publish one day. Jordan was a loving son and husband, a protective brother and grandson, and a fierce friend. We choose to believe God did not take Jordan at the age of 15 when he survived a near fatal 4-wheeler wreck because he was meant for something more. Jordan had many struggles after his accident and constantly fought to overcome each one with the love and support of his family and friends. He had just found a happy place with his new wife, Veronica and her daughter Ashlen. Jordan was finding some peace and relief from his demons. His family is finding peace in his new found happiness and the thoughts that Jordan had accomplished whatever it was God had in his plans. Jordan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Robert Roy and Costa Speed, Fletcher and Thelma South, and James A Cross. Survivors include the love of his life his wife, Veronica Speed; his parents, Jeff and Kadra Speed; his brother, Kegan Speed; his sister, Kileigh Speed; his step-daughter, Ashlen Exum; his grandparents, Bill and Carolyn Ivey, Don and Lynda Speed; his great-grandmother, Blondell Kilgore Cross; aunts and uncles, Kristie (Gary) Phillips, Rob (Phyllis) Speed; several great aunts, uncles and cousins. Serving as active pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Kyle Eriksen, Owen Brown, Jeremiah Summerford, Josh Summerford and Daniel Miller. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Curtis Summerford, Kamren Erikson, and Chapman Andrews. Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home 334-983-6604 www.SunsetMemorialPark.com.
