Luke Weeks Obituary
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Wallace Russell, Ricky Plummer and Charles Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wheelin Sportsmen, c/o Illana Buckhart, P.O. Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824.
Luke was born Oct. 4, 1981, in Dothan where he lived his entire lifetime. He was a graduate of Dothan High School Class of 2000 and attended Auburn University for four years. Luke was self-employed as Owner-Broker of Lucas Real Estate Investments. He was the youngest Broker in Alabama receiving numerous awards for his achievements. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dothan.
Luke is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ed and Catherine Weeks.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Weeks, Dothan; parents, Bruce and Donna Weeks, Dothan; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Sarah Mikkelsen, Summerdale; sister, Whitney Weeks Sanders (Spencer), Dothan; maternal grandparents, Eric and Becky Capps, Dothan; nieces, Ava Elizabeth Sanders, Emma Catherine Sanders, both of Dothan; many aunts, uncles, and cousins including special cousins, Matt Bullard, Nashville, Tenn., Jonathan Weeks, Columbus, Ga.; and a lifelong friend, Chris Weldon, Cottonwood.

Mrs. Weeks, I was so sorry to hear about Lucas. I remember him as a young boy toddling around the school (Carver) when he came to visit, even as I was just a child myself. Those years hold the best memories for me thanks to the wonderful teachers like yourself. I remembered Lucas as the energetic little boy that was always flashing that beautiful smile. Then all grown up, he walks into Lummus Co. and I was amazed at the young man he had become. He was so energetic and seemed to have such a passion for Real Estate. He was thirsting for knowledge and always went the extra mile when neccessary, and always with a smile. I know you are very proud of all he has accomplished and I know he was very proud to have you as a mom. I pray that you and your family will cherish the many wonderful memories you have of your precious son and find comfort in God's loving arms.

My Deepest Sympathies goes to the family of one of my friends, I met Lucas a few years ago, He was a fine young man with many goals in his life, one that he accomplished since I met him was marrying the love of his life. Another was his own business. That was his dream. We sat and talked about God for several hours and I know that he is in heaven seeing what he really believed in.
