Mary Lee Edwards, age 96, passed away on August 4, 2018 in Cornelia, Georgia where she had lived for the past ten years. She was born in Eufaula, Alabama on May 14, 1922 to Robert Benjamin Lee and Mary Howerton Lee. Mrs. Edwards lived in Eufaula most of her life as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved living in Eufaula and left only to live closer to her children. She was a homemaker who excelled at preparing delicious food for her family, sewed beautiful clothes for her daughters and granddaughters, cared for numerous abandoned pets and kept a tidy and clean home. She was a consistent and dependable mother and wife. She devoted herself to caring for her children, husband and pets. Mary was a devout Christian lady who was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church in Eufaula. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Donald Frank (Pete) Edwards, and her sisters Alla Lee Roney and Robbie Lee Surprise. She is survived by her children Donald Frank Edwards, Jr. (Kathleen) of Romeo, MI, Virginia Owens (Ed) of Mt. Airy, GA, Sara Galloway of Hertford, NC, and Cathy Ricketson (Mike) of Cornelia, GA along with seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, August 10th at 10:00 am. with Rev. Gerald Caryl-Gordon officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hands for Paws, Inc. P. O. Box 1055, Cornelia, GA 30531 or visit their website at www.hands-for-paws.org in memory of Mrs. Edwards. Mary was comforted by Bunny, Barney and Mamacat in her last years.
