Gayle, I was so excited to hear of Mike's lung transplants and then so sad to hear he had passed. Even in this Mike was helping others because I am sure his surgery helped the medical industry to learn more. I am so sorry we have not kept in closer contact and that I was not there for you in your time of grief. Please know that I still love you like a sister and my heart goes out to you and your family as we participate in this great circle of life.

I was very close with Mike and he was like my second dad, I had the honor to be with him during his transplant and during his last days. He was the most honest man I ever met. I just wanted to write today because I wanted everyone to know there is a day that does not go by I do not think of him. This weekend I had trouble with my watch and it made me cry because, I knew I could not call him to fix it. He will be truly missed. My thoughts our with Gayle and the girls.

Mike will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. When he first moved to Tallahassee, he was one of the first to recognize that women could be contractors as well as men. My sympathy goes out to your family.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, it was a loss for all of us. I am honored to have been able to work with Mike, who I jokingly called the "Overachiever" in pulmonary rehab. From what I have learned he was an "Overachiever" with his whole life. My prayers and sympathies are with his family and friends. With deepest regards, Jayne Trawick RRT

My sincerest condolences to the Blankenship family. As a consultant that assists contractors with licensing issues, I frequently had to deal with the Construction Board and I could always count on Mike's level headed view of the issues. He commanded a level of respect and wisdom that few men could. He will be sorely missed by all those that knew him.
