BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Mollie Virginia Pittman, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018. Mollie was born September 12, 1985, in Mobile, Alabama, to Dr. William "Bill" and Kathy Pittman, both formerly of Enterprise, Alabama. Mollie's paternal grandmother, Marjorie Brunson Pittman, continues to reside in Enterprise, as does Mollie's uncles, John Edwin Pittman III and Donald Saxon Pittman, along with several other relatives. Mollie attended Mountain Brook High School and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She worked for 15 years at the Dande Lion shop in Mountain Brook Village, where she managed the store's inventory and helped customers find the perfect gifts and home furnishings. Her sharp eye for design was seen daily through the store's window displays. Mollie will be remembered most for her deep sense of compassion, keen intellect, unmatched sense of style, and above all, her service to others. She found joy in celebrations and was known for the beautiful parties, showers and events she planned for her many friends and family members. She had an innate ability to appear exactly when she was most needed. She found beauty in the ordinary, and in the tiny details of life, as demonstrated by her encyclopedic knowledge of horticulture and her near photographic memory. Mollie was a gifted artist and master of any creative endeavors she undertook, which included acting, singing, decorating, gardening and antiquing. She withheld her luminous smile from no one and entered each day with a wise heart and open mind. Mollie was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Dr. John Edwin Pittman Jr. of Enterprise, and her maternal grandparents, Robert Edward James and Virginia Bowers James, both also of Enterprise. Survivors include Mollie's loving parents, Dr. William "Bill" Pittman and Kathy James Pittman; one brother, Braden Pittman; her grandmother, Marjorie Pittman; uncles, John Edwin Pittman III, Donald Saxon Pittman, Craig Sorrel Pittman, Jerry Brunson Pittman, both of Mobile, AL; aunt, Roberta Gwen James of Mountain Brook; and her many other grateful relatives and friends. Family and friends gathered April 6, 2018 for the memorial service at Canterbury United Methodist Church, 350 Overbrook Road, Mountain Brook, AL 35213.
