Mrs. Sarah Ann Cunningham Hicks, age 83, of Dothan passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018. Born March 26, 1935 in Dothan to the late George Cunningham and Bonnie Lou Knowles Cunningham, Sarah was truly a hard working, dedicated Mother, Wife and Professional. Whether her own children or her step children from marriage, she was warm, supportive and kind in every way. Sarah respected everyone as individuals, and was always ready to lend a kind ear or a shoulder to lean on or to hug with. Her professionalism was always clear in her business acumen and her desire to build a better life for the future for herself and family. She was first a legal assistant, secretary, then in Dothan, owning City Furniture, opening her own ladies apparel store, and even taking on Nip and Ernies when they retired. She and Billy became Real Estate Brokers, and that was her last work until she passed away. Sarah had enough compassion to share with anyone. All her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be her Light and Warmth, as she rests now in all our hearts. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hicks and her brother, Jimmy Cunningham. Sarah is survived by her daughters, Alicia Hicks (Rich Haromalik), Michelle Peel Vorse (Michael), and April Marshall (David); her sons, Michael Alan Moore and Gary Lee Moore (Holly); her step sons, Kenneth Dean Hicks and Dennis Hicks (Jackie); her grandchildren, Heather Granger (Anthony), Clinton Atkinson (Jessica), Nathan Marshall, Christopher Moore, Katie Krista, Patrick Moore, Stuart Moore, Caitlyn Moore, Daniel Hicks, Brian Hicks, Shannon Hicks, Scottie French, Teka French; a special niece, Kay Payne (Doyce); and numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, one hour prior to the service. The family will be accepting flowers. www.wardwilson.com
