Sarah Oates Obituary

Funeral services for Sarah Bunting Oates of Auburn will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Founders Chapel of Auburn United Methodist Church, Dr. George Mathison officiating. Burial was Monday, March 18, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, Ga.

Sara was a 1944 graduate of Duke University, and always a huge Blue Devil basketball fan. She was a member of AAP Sorority and a former flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. Ms. Oates was an avid horsewoman; she spent many years showing horses and teaching riding lessons. She was an active supporter of the ASPGA and was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan.

She is survived by Walter B. Oates of Birmingham; Carol Gentemann of Destin, Fla.; Wyatt S. Oates of Headland; Frank B. Oates of Auburn; Laurie Smith of Orange Beach; and nine grandchildren.

Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, (334) 749-8700, is in charge of arrangements.
