David Shaun Hess

1977 - 2015

David Shaun Hess, 37, of Felton, Delaware, formerly of Taneytown, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. Born October 9, 1977 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of Richard "Rick" and June (Bouldin) Hess, Jr. of Taneytown.

Dave served in the United States Air Force for 16 years where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired from the military in 2013. He was a member of American Legion Hesson Snider Post 120 in Taneytown. Dave enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, and attending concerts. He was a huge Jimmy Buffett and Baltimore Orioles fan.

Surviving in addition to his parents are fiancée, Stephany Baize and her children, Thomas, Wesley, and Lawson, of Felton, DE; sister, Jennifer and fiancé Robert Farrow, Jr. of Taneytown; paternal grandparents, Richard and Beatrice Hess of Silver Run; niece, Ilana; and nephews, Gavin and Chase. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Rick and Lynn Bouldin.

A funeral service was held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2014 at Uniontown Bible Church, 4272 Watson Ln, Union Bridge, MD, with Deacon Chris Sturdivant officiating. The family received friends from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. A graveside committal service with military honors was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15 at St. Mary's U.C.C. Cemetery, 1441 E. Mayberry Rd, Westminster, MD (Silver Run.) Arrangements were entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dave Hess Memorial Fund (with checks made payable to Stephany Baize), P.O. Box 164, Taneytown, MD, 21787, for the benefit of his fiancée Stephany Biaze and her children.
