Donna J. Jones Chappell
Camden - Donna Jane Jones Chappell of Camden, Delaware passed away on August 4th, 2021. She was 86.
Donna was born in Winston-Salem, NC, June 1, 1935, daughter of the late J T Jones, Jr and Alta Crater Jones.
Donna married her teenage sweetheart, the late Lt. Col. Richard Gray Chappell, USAF Retired, in 1955. She invested her time being an Air Force officer's wife and raising their 3 children.
Donna is survived by a son, Douglas Chappell of Jacksonville, Fla; 2 daughters, Diane Pledger of Winston-Salem, Dana Chappell of Tucker, Ga.; one brother, Thurmond Jones of Winston-Salem; one sister Elizabeth Hensley of King, NC; five grandchildren, Philip Pledger, Michael Pledger, Todd Chappell, Emily Chappell, and Misha Colich; six great grandchildren, Logan Pledger, Juniper Pledger, Luda Pledger, Masha Pledger, Winston Colich, and Roman Colich.
Donna was an active member of Faith Community Church and a dedicated Auxiliary member of the Gideon's International. She served as a Project Leader for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child at FCC for many years. Donna was a member of Friends of Historical Camden. She had a passion for Brecknock Park, especially preserving the history and upkeep of the Goggins home, where she served as a docent.
Donna enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family, reading, leading women's Bible studies, and traveling.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday August 28 at Faith Community Church. 2240 S Dupont Hwy, Dover, Del.
Burial will be held 2pm August 30th in the Del Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriot's Way, Millsboro, Del.
